New York Times reports emerging deal on Gulf shipping routes

The New York Times, citing U.S. and Iranian officials, says an emerging agreement would send ships bound for the Gulf through a route controlled by Iran and near its coast, while ships leaving the Gulf would take a channel near Oman. The deal includes service fees to cover the environmental impact of shipping, as well as the security of cargo ships and oil tankers.
