Advanced understandings in Rome between Lebanon and Israel

Presidential sources said the second day of the seventh round of talks in Rome ended with advanced understandings between the Lebanese and Israeli sides, under U.S. sponsorship, on border points, model zones and the verification committee. The sources said progress was made across the three tracks, especially on the border file and Lebanon's rights in it, as well as outstanding issues between the two sides, while discussions continue on expanding the model zones. They added that the most notable progress was on the verification committee and the third party to be represented in it, and that the U.S. side asked to end the meetings about an hour early to hold international contacts with both sides. The sources also said Lebanon requested a period of at least 60 days for a ceasefire and the cessation of Israeli military operations.
