Israel delays and gives no commitment to withdraw south of the Litani

Sources familiar with the atmosphere of the negotiation round told Al-Joumhouria that nothing was achieved, describing it as a result of Israel’s stalling and its departure from what was confirmed in the framework formula, by surrounding the substantive points insisted on by the Lebanese delegation with obstacles preventing their implementation. They added that the Israeli delegation made no commitment to an additional withdrawal of the Israeli army from areas south of the river, which would mark a practical launch for the second trial phase and the deployment of Lebanese army units there, or to stopping demolition, blasting and attacks on Lebanese areas.
