Heated exchange erupts between Salam and Menassa over amnesty bill

🔴 Breaking: A heated exchange and shouting took place between Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and Defense Minister Michel Menassa ahead of the session over the general amnesty bill. The tension occurred outside the General Assembly hall, after Menassa wanted to deliver an emotional speech at the start of the session addressing military personnel, but Salam asked him to step outside for a discussion and then refused to let him speak. MP Jamil Al-Sayyed said the Prime Minister prevented the Defense Minister from entering the legislative session and making a statement on the military institution’s position on the general amnesty law. He added that Salam took Menassa outside and told him he was not allowed to enter the session, and that Menassa burst into tears.
