Mikhael Menassa apologizes to army martyrs' families, vows no silence

Defense Minister Mikhael Menassa apologized to the families of the army martyrs, saying he could not raise the army’s voice when it should have been heard in parliament, but he promised that the army would remain in his voice and his stance. In a statement, he said he could not offer what matched the greatness of their sacrifices, and that he saw voices gathered against the army’s voice and positions combined when what was needed was to protect it, not besiege it. He added that the army is not a party to a dispute nor a card to be used and discarded, and that its sons who fell did not ask Lebanon where they belonged, but how to protect it, stressing that silence will not be destiny and yesterday’s betrayal will not be the end of the story.
