Army commander tells defense minister families of fallen were never let down
Army Commander Rodolphe Haykal told Defense Minister Michel Menassa: “You have never let the families of the fallen down, and you never will. You have made us proud and made the army proud.” He added that there is no sectarian distinction among those who wear the military uniform, and that the military institution’s objectives are national, centered on protecting Lebanon and safeguarding its security and stability. For his part, the defense minister said during a meeting with the Army Commander, members of the Military Council and senior command officers that the army is the backbone of the state, and that the military institution remains steadfast in its position and will not back down from carrying out its duty or making sacrifices for the sake of the nation. He added: “God willing, we will remain united, and with our resilience, we can achieve a great deal.”
