Katz orders transfer of enforcement powers in the West Bank

Enemy media: Israeli Defense Minister Katz ordered the army to prepare a plan to transfer all enforcement authority over civil matters concerning Israeli communities and the Israeli population in Judea and Samaria to the Israeli police. He said the IDF’s role is to fight Palestinian terrorism and defend the borders and communities against threats, while full responsibility for enforcing civil matters and maintaining law and order will be transferred to the police. Another version said the move followed the events in Qusra, and that Katz instructed transferring responsibility for dealing with Israeli citizens from the army to the police, describing it as a new attempt to impose sovereignty over the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and to entrench an illegal annexation of Palestinian land.
