Jamil al-Sayyid criticizes airport detentions of returning expatriates
Under the headline "The airport is not a trap for detaining expatriates," Brig. Gen. Jamil al-Sayyid wrote on his account that, if true, reports of detentions at the airport of arriving Lebanese expatriates because they criticized or insulted the president on their social media accounts are highly unusual. He said they are referred for questioning on a judicial signal to sign a pledge not to insult the president, and that their detention sometimes lasts for two days.
