Trump claims secret communication channel with Iran’s Revolutionary Guard

Trump said there is a secret communication channel, or back-channel contacts, with officials in Iran’s Revolutionary Guard. In an interview with Fox News, he said he is not in a hurry regarding Iran, and added that he is holding direct talks with IRGC officials and that the United States has a large arsenal of medium-range weapons that could be used in the future if needed. The IRGC spokesperson told Tasnim that Trump’s remarks are mere illusions stemming from defeat, stressing that no talks are taking place between IRGC officials and the Americans and that diplomatic matters fall under the authority of other bodies. He added that the information available to him and confirmation from Foreign Ministry officials indicate there are currently no talks with Washington, and that Trump has only one path forward: acknowledge defeat and implement Iran’s conditions.
