Raggi says Iranian ambassador’s presence contradicts sovereign decision

🔴 Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi: The continued presence of the Iranian ambassador on Lebanese territory contradicts a sovereign decision. Al-Nahar said a diplomatic matter tied to the troubled diplomatic relations file between Lebanon and Iran emerged yesterday, relating to the expiry on the 24th of this month of the visa of the appointed Iranian ambassador to Lebanon, Ali Reza Shibani. Lebanon had originally refused to accredit him and considered him a diplomat persona non grata. In this context, Raggi told Al-Nahar that the issue does not allow for any interpretation, and that once any diplomat is declared persona non grata, he must leave the territory of the host state.
