Mariam Bassam speaks of calls to hand a wanted man to Syria
Media commentator Mariam Bassam said a senior government figure contacted a security official about ten times in one night, in order to hand over a wanted man to Syria. She said the figure referred to was Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, and that his higher human reference was the General Director of General Security, Major General Hassan Shuqair, who sought legal exits but did not receive a response. She added that the issue was the abolition of the death penalty locally and its transfer to Syria, saying that execution had been abolished in principle, with a commitment to carry it out abroad.
