Bessent vows toughest sanctions in history against Iran

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Iran’s economic isolation will be the largest in history, and called on allies and the rest of the world to stop dealing with the Iranian regime. He added that the United States controls the Strait of Hormuz, where large quantities of oil pass through, and vowed to impose the toughest sanctions on Iran, saying they would lead to the collapse of the regime. Other versions said the U.S. Treasury is imposing new sanctions related to Iran, and that Bessent called for regime change in Iran, telling allies: you are with us or against us, and we will topple this regime. A Trump administration official also said Iran is completely bankrupt, and that Trump has many tools he can use more forcefully over the coming weeks and months.
