Salam calls for one state authority in southern Lebanon and nationwide
Salam said that the army’s presence in the south is not merely a military deployment, but a presence of the state, and that every location where the army is deployed is a place where the state regains its sovereignty, authority and prestige, and every Lebanese flag raised over an army position is a symbol of state legitimacy. He added from Tyre that he feels a special sense of pride among the men and women of the Lebanese army, who stand today in one of the most delicate stages the country is going through, carrying a central responsibility in restoring the state’s sovereignty. He also said they want the south, like all of Lebanon, to be under the authority of one state, with Lebanese citizens feeling safe because they have an army to protect them, and for the country to enjoy stability as the state and its constitutional institutions regain control over decisions of war and peace.
