Hussein al-Sheikh says Palestinian elections will proceed on schedule

Palestinian Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh said the decision to hold legislative elections and then presidential elections is strategic, and that the elections will take place on schedule with no retreat from that. He added that the Palestinian Authority and the US administration have been holding quiet talks for a year to shape a political vision, and that he is in direct contact with envoy Kushner. He said the Palestinian-US dialogue will lead in the coming months to a vision for a political horizon, with ongoing coordination with Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and Qatar, noting that the coming period will be a sensitive one shaped by the results of the Israeli elections, then the Palestinian elections, and afterward the US midterm elections.
