Satellite images confirm an attack on the U.S. base at Erbil International Airport in Iraq. A fire was also observed in a U.S. military compound near Erbil International Airport, and NASA FIRMS detected the fire at about 02:58 local time, or 23:58 UTC. The images also show a direct hit on the U.S. base inside Erbil International Airport in northern Iraq, and the balloon is no longer visible and may have been directly hit. A large charred area was also observed today in a U.S. military compound next to Erbil International Airport in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and additional satellite images showed a direct hit on the U.S. base in Erbil in northern Iraq.
