Al-Sheikh welcomes 12-state statement on two-state solution

Palestinian Vice President Hussein Al-Sheikh welcomed a statement by the foreign ministers of 12 countries, Britain, France, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Sweden, on the two-state solution and the steps it outlined to impose restrictions on trade in products from illegal settlements. He called for moving from condemnation to binding and decisive measures that stop settlement expansion and the de facto annexation of West Bank land, uphold international legitimacy, international law and UN Security Council resolutions, and hold perpetrators of settler terrorism and violence accountable. He said the occupation government’s settlement plans, especially the E1 project, threaten to tear apart Palestinian land and separate the northern West Bank from the south, undermining the possibility of a connected Palestinian state.
