Hamas says top member killed in Israeli strike on Gaza

Enemy media: Hamas announced today the death of one of its senior members in an Israeli strike on Gaza City. The group said Farah Hamed was a "commander and fighter" in its military wing and a member of the "Military Council of the al-Qassam Brigades in the West Bank." It said Hamed was part of the "Silwad cell," which operated during the Second Intifada and carried out a series of deadly shooting attacks in the West Bank. Hamed was originally from the Ramallah area and was deported to Gaza in 2011 as part of the Gilad Shalit prisoner exchange deal. Hamas also said the head of the cell, who was released in the same deal, was killed in Rafah in May 2024. Palestinian media said Hamed was targeted in a strike in Gaza City's Sheikh Ijlin neighborhood earlier today. The IDF has not yet issued a statement on the strike.
