Iran says it will present talks with Oman on Hormuz

🔴 Iran and Oman have agreed on details of new entry and exit routes for the Strait of Hormuz, according to an Iranian source cited by Tasnim. The source added that the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened under this understanding. Reuters quoted a senior Iranian official as saying that the meeting scheduled for Monday was requested by Oman, and that no agreement to reopen the strait is expected because Iran wants an arrangement that would allow it to collect fees from ships passing through it. Iran's Foreign Ministry said its understanding with Oman on transit corridors does not necessarily mean the strait is safe for navigation. It added that it will present the results of its talks with Oman on Hormuz transit routes at a meeting of Gulf littoral states, saying that as long as the US blockade and economic war continue, it cannot be claimed that the Strait of Hormuz is safe.
