Khaled Badr El-Din recounts meeting on reconstruction and compensation

Khaled Badr El-Din, head of the Union of Municipalities of Nabatieh's districts, said he had been waiting for reactions to the president's visit and that he does not compromise at the expense of speaking the truth. He said he told the president that their offices were modest and that they were coming out of a war, and the president replied that his father was a soldier and he was used to sitting on the ground. Badr El-Din added that the president stressed the issues of reconstruction and compensation for people, and that he asked not to tie this file to large and complicated reform dossiers. He said the president later told him that he had spoken with the Americans and asked that compensation not be linked to anti-corruption files, and that if there was no confidence, private companies should handle the matter.
