Israeli army suspends soldier after shooting at Palestinians near al-Mughayyir

Enemy media: The Israeli army says it has suspended a soldier from duty after he opened fire on Palestinians, saying he had come under stone-throwing in the West Bank yesterday. The army said troops were dispatched several times to the village of al-Mughayyir on Saturday after reports of clashes between Israeli settlers who invaded the village and Palestinian residents. It said the clashes included stone throwing and stone barriers placed on roads, without specifying which side was to blame. The troops acted to disperse the confrontation and remove the roadblocks, and were also hit by stone-throwing during the incident. Later, the army received a report of an off-duty soldier who said Palestinians hurled stones at him on the outskirts of al-Mughayyir, and he returned fire while no other troops were in the area. The army says it is unaware of any injuries caused by the gunfire.
