Palestine: UN urges urgent support for Gaza as rainy season nears
In Palestine, UN: Preparing for the rainy season is an urgent priority in Gaza, and we call on donors to increase their support and on the Israeli authorities to ease restrictions that are hindering humanitarian operations. Spokesperson for the Secretary-General Stéphane Dujarric said relief agencies are ready to deliver aid, but there is an urgent need for more tents, equipment, spare parts and engine oil to protect people from flooding, hypothermia and winter diseases. He added that UNICEF and its partners are working to restart the Sheikh Ajlin wastewater treatment facility, which served about 700,000 people in southern Gaza before it was damaged during the fighting.
