Yisrael Hayom: Maeen Al-Arabid's condition worsens after arrest in Gaza
Yisrael Hayom reported that Maeen Al-Arabid, whom it describes as the head of Hamas' internal security apparatus, is in intensive care under sedation and connected to a ventilator after his condition deteriorated following a gunshot wound during his arrest in Gaza City. According to the newspaper, he was arrested last Tuesday in a joint operation led by the Shin Bet operational unit with participation from Israeli army forces, and foreign reports cited by the paper say the operation was carried out with the help of a local group in the Gaza Strip that cooperates with Israel. During the arrest, Al-Arabid was shot in the thigh, and according to the Israeli account it was not clear whether the bullet was fired by Shin Bet operatives or came from a weapon he was carrying and he wounded himself.
