What a Lebanese plate is made of
A Lebanese plate is a number plus a symbol. The number is the serial; the symbol is an Arabic letter shown alongside its Latin equivalent. Together they identify the plate, and neither is sufficient alone.
The plate follows the owner
Unlike many systems, a Lebanese plate stays with its owner when the vehicle changes. One plate can therefore hold a history of vehicles, only one of which is the current registration.
